The SightFirst initiative, supported by the Lions Club International Foundation (LCIF), focuses on preventing blindness and improving eye care systems in underserved regions. Since 1990, the program has impacted over 488 million people globally. Lions clubs, like the Lions Club of Kolhapur Trust, partner with local health professionals and organizations to deliver services and raise awareness about eye health. The SightFirst Grant, awarded to Kolhapur Trust, supports these efforts through various strategies, including delivering eye care, training professionals, upgrading infrastructure, and promoting education and rehabilitation for visually impaired individuals. This work is vital in reducing preventable blindness and ensuring comprehensive eye care in vulnerable communities.
